Bethesda Country Club is hiring a Sous Chef. This position will be responsible for assisting in maintaining established costs and quality standards to ensure superior service and maximize profits. Promote the professional growth and development of the entire team.  Foster strong interdepartmental relations and integrate the culinary department with the facility plan of operations. Train and develop a staff of cooks, dishwashers and interns who strive to maintain BCC excellence.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manages all food service operations and staff on a daily basis. Areas of responsibility include Club Grill, Family Grill, Pub, Café, Cabana and Banquet Operations. Works with the food and beverage/culinary teams to successfully execute all food operations. Strives to continually improve guest and associate satisfaction and maximize the financial performance in areas of responsibility.
  2. Gathers and organizes information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examines data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generates alternative solutions to problems; evaluates strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems.
  3. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  4. Participates in employee meetings and training programs.
  5. Maintains food cost while ensuring quality standards.
  6. Assists in the development and ongoing improvements of company food inventory controls.
  7. Ensures HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of food.
  8. Assists in the creation and design of menus.
  9. Responsible for covering any duties left by vacant positions.


  • 2 - 4 Years' experience in heart of house in restaurants, clubs, hotels and/or banquet operations.
  • 2 Year Culinary Degree Preferred.
  • Demonstrates high level of focus and energy on accomplishing goals.
  • Detail oriented and able to see a total situation quickly and clearly.
  • Takes responsibility for all challenges and encourages an environment of problem solving.
